Iconic Masters contains 249 cards (101 common, 80 uncommon, 53 rare, and 15 mythic rare) and includes randomly inserted premium versions of all cards. The name of the set was inadvertently revealed in a WPN-mail send to retailers in April 2017. Iconic Masters offers players a tour through some of the most powerful cards in over 23 years of Magic history. Featuring new artwork on many cards, the set brings an array of massive Angels, Sphinxes, Demons, Dragons and Hydras alongside some favorite and most memorable spells. Every box of Iconic Masters contains 24 booster packs — each with fifteen randomly inserted game cards, including one premium card in every pack. The 16-card boosters (the sixteenth card is a marketing card) feature artwork from Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite, Heroes’ Bane and Firemane Angel.

Iconic Masters was designed to provide an exciting and unique Limited experience with cards that had never been drafted together. Like for its predecessors, the MSRP of one booster is set to $9.99. Mark Rosewater considers the name of the set misleading, because some really iconic cards are missing.

Mason Hardy says:

I recently played the Eschalon I and II on PC. Is this the same music? It’s been eerily familiar since the last episode I watched.

UUDDLRLRBA Start says:

Why don’t you add everything to your total, not just cards over $2. You made about $4 worth on the cards under $1.

Category1Games says:

Did those boxes take into account selling fees, shipping costs including packaging and your time? If not, then those prices are bogus and you woulnd’t have been able to keep going with the boxes. Please be realistic with these videos. Just because that is price of the card at that time does not mean it will sell instantly and that you aren’t paying around 15% off the top to TCGPlayer or eBay.

aroo aroo says:

That Spiritmonger regular+foil situation happened to me once in the packs from an Ixalan deck. Imagine the excitement of pulling 3 Deathless Ancients from 2 packs.

NerdimusPrime says:

If magic used wild mana like Hearthstone all those lands would be pointless as well. I always hate losing a game due to mana screw.

TheDon94 says:

I’m not a magic expert but couldn’t they take the yugioh route? Konami to ensure prices don’t get out of hand reprints cards with rarity drops to ensure they are cheap. Is that not possible for magic? Like uncommon fetch lands?

WimpyMcWeaksauce says:

Oh no . . . Teferi and Consecrated Sphinx are cheap now. Commander is doomed.

Solana says:

After opening three boxes of Ixalan I only ever opened one Savage Stomp, Wizards really needs to knock it off with the ‘hidden’ rarities.

Derp Deer says:

Will you still ship it if I live on another plane?

Akatalin says:

Oooh foil diminish and only one blue kitty but no phantom kitty with new art…. I hope when I crack my box with my mom and sis we get more kittys

Jeff-Plays-Games says:

Glimpse the unthinkable…not unseen…hehe

Tatsuhiro Satou says:

My draft was good just because of the foil magus of the moon but the rest of my pool was bulk at best

cheshiredon says:

Hidden rarities.

Dan Moriarty says:

How do you know if you win the contest? Thanks Prof 🙂

Professor Sal says:

hey professor i have never been able to enter any of your give aways since when you use gleam it always wants me to login with my twitch account. even then it wont let me enter. please help.

Cody Niles says:

Ugggggggh why why why why why the fuck would anyone spend $200 on this? You can find it for $150, and I’ve seen as low as $135/box in a case……

Steven Janjic says:

Disappointed to hear you go on about the mythic uncommon conspiracy theory re: baubles. If you looked over all the uncommons in the boxes, the uncommon rarity shouldn’t give that many copies with only 24 packs a box. Also there were plenty of eternally playable uncommons you had much worse results with – pretty sure I only saw a single Lightning Helix in all those boxes – but whose counting those anyway!

Tide laundry detergent says:

how is spiritmonger so useless value-wise?

Original Atog says:

Must have gotten them boxes from Rudy!

phlash12 says:

You should probably mention that there are NOT the same number of boosters in the Masters boxes as a normal booster box.

Ahmed Alnoor says:

I can’t seem to get my entry in the giveaway 🙁

Toa Taile says:

Look at Rudy’s box openings, he opened a bunch of baubles.

Ryan Kirrane says:

Whats the print quality like?

Starcore Labs says:

Professor, I want a, “Tolarian Community College Handbook”. That provides a background on Tolarian Community College, as well as, a college level education in Magic: The Gathering. If you write it, I’ll buy it.

33nolandeleon says:

Yeah. Karn was only in MM15. It hasn’t been reprinted since. But I get your point.

Vladotrexx Theemeraldenderknight says:

the second booster…. wasn’t expecting that

DerpyMudkipz says:

Awkward faerie butt

Aden Cummins says:

Where do you get the music?

Ryan Camarillo says:

I lol’d when you tossed the box at the beginning of the video

taylan payne says:

Professor, you are one of the absolute best channels for MTG on YouTube!! Seriously, thank you for the content you provide!!

chortlesinthecorner says:

5:29 the foil mindstone isn’t 11 cents! At launch is was $4-$5, looks like it’s going for about $3 these days on ebay.

lzeKil says:

LOL that poor bauble.

Arbiter1171 says:

@Tolarian Community College you keep saying Karn has been in 2 Master sets but he’s only been in MM 2015

Runicmyst says:

This box opening makes me sad inside. Your first 3 packs were all cards I didn’t get out of the entire CASE I opened.

dudewithnovids12 says:

Got a draft pack from walmart which is three packs, pulled a foil mishra’s bauble and two magus of the moon.

Troy Jeffrey says:

I’ve got 3 boxes of Unstable coming my way. I can’t wait for my friends and I to draft and build some silly fun decks!
